May-mester A Study in Improvisational piecing

Come join us in a study in improvisational patchwork using Maria Shell’s book ‘Improv’ as our textbook

We will study her techniques for choosing color and studio set up with the proper tools.
Starting with simple stripes, and then advancing into no ruler work stripes plaids squares and triangles.

Each class time will have reading homework, cutting and sewing work to build our skills.

The text book requires the we use solid fabrics.

This is an in person and via Zoom.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Knowledge of sewing machine and fabric. A desire to break the rules with wild abandon
Requirements: If taking this class via Zoom. Student must have adequate Wi-Fi and knowledge of the Zoom website All students must have: the book IMPROV by Maria Shell Rotary cutter and mat 6 x 24 ruler for measuring A separate 6x24 ruler for cutting Sewing machine, thread
Instructor: Mary Beth Simms
Instructor Bio: Mary Beth has a Bachelors in studio Art from St. Mary of the Woods College with a concentration in Fibers She has taught many workshops across the United States With a multi decade passion for quilting. Owner of the Yellow Door Quilt Store in Nashville Indiana. A participant and exhibitor of her works at 100+ quilt shows in the USA
